Spectrographic Estimation of Zirconium and Niobium in Rocks and its Significance

A reliable spectral analysis method for quantitative detennination of zirconium and niobium content in rock samples has been developed. A chemical enrichment procedure was adopted as the concentration of these elements in rocks was very low. Histograms showing the frequency distri· butions of the estimated elements were drawn.read more

Pulse_Radiolysis of Naphthalene in Methylamine Solution

A pulse-radiolytic study of a solution of naphthalene in liq1;Jid methylamine showed absorption in the W region with a maximum at 330 nm. The absorption, attributed to naphthalene radical C 1 oH9, did not decay via a simple process. Evidence as to the nature of the precursor of the species is discussedread more

Quantative Determination of 8-Hydroxyquinoline Complexes of Amino Acids by Fluromeric Method.

The use of 8-hydroxyquinoline as tluorometric developer for amino acids has been reported! recently. In present studies detailed investigations have been carried out to measure quantitatively the tluorometric signal for sixteen 8-hydroxyquinoline derivatives of amino acids. The intensity of tluorceseence signal at various IDter combinations and slit widths has been measured and limits of detection calculated by statistically .malysing the experimental data. The secondary effects encountered in similar tluorometric procedures2,3 have been eliminated in this procedure. The present method offers needed sensitivity, accuracy and simplicity, for both screening and confirmatory tests of all amino acids.read more

The Crystal Stmctures of Guanidinium Phosphonate - Acetone (1/1) and Guanidinium Phenylphosphonate - Water (1/2)

All oxygen atoms of the anions and all nitrogen atoms of the cations participate in extended hydrogen bond networks in both (CH N3)2HP03,(CH3)2CO [Pna21' a = 13.888(7), b = 9.658(4), c = 9.561(4) A, Z = 4) and (CH6N3)3rC6HsP03)' 2H20 [Ce, a = 18.51(1), b = 7.586(3), c = 12.48(1) A, P = 121.6(1)0, Z = 4]. The lattice solvent molecules are also involved in hydrogen bonding; their presence as spacers is required by the non-planarity of the anions. The N .• O distances range from 2.78 to 3.10 A. The structures were solved from photographic data, with respective residuals 0.055 for 723 reflections and 0.048 for 1268 reflections.tread more

Cyano Bridge Copper (I) Complexes

Cyano bridge copper (I) complexes such as [CuCN(PPh3)(Py)] 2 have been prepared through tIuee different routes, from the known complexes Cu(CN(Py)2 and CuCN(PPh3)2' and were identified as CiHymmetric, trans-symetric and unsymmetric cyano-bridged complexes on the basis of reaction with thiourea.read more
